Editorial Illustration for Vermont Newspaper
Artwork for Seven Days Newspaper
Working with Seven Days, Vermont’s leading independent newspaper, was a rewarding full-circle moment for me. One of my earliest graphic design jobs was laying out the jobs section of the paper, but this time I had the chance to collaborate with their team as an illustrator!

Project Overview
I was commissioned to create illustrations for two articles:
-
Vermont Health Officials Prepare for Bird Flu as it Spreads in Dairy Herds
This article explores the growing threat of bird flu in Vermont’s dairy industry. My illustration had to visually convey the topic of the article while maintaining an aesthetic that was eye-catching and approachable for readers. -
UVM Aims to Secure the Future of Its Research Studies
The next illustration was created for an article about the University of Vermont’s efforts to secure funding and expand its research initiatives. As the cover art, the design needed to leave space for the Seven Days logo, headline, and additional text. Since UVM’s mascot is a catamount, I illustrated a scientist catamount with dollar bills in his pocket, playfully capturing the essence of the article's focus on research funding and future innovation.
