The Moon and the Tides

Nisqually Reach Nature Center invites visitors to connect with the beautiful South Sound, offering easy access to incredible birding, water recreation, and an interpretive center. This mural is one panel in a series along an outdoor retaining wall, where the center invited a group of artists to bring their own perspectives to the space. I was happy to be among such incredible company!

My panel explores the relationship between the moon and the tides, a quiet force that shapes this whole corner of the Sound. Working outdoors and in dialogue with the neighboring panels, I aimed to capture the same sense of ebb and flow found in the landscape just beyond the wall. I'm thrilled to leave this piece as a tribute to a place and an organization doing work I deeply admire.
